How can I generate deposit slips for recorded payments
Generating deposit slips can be done through the Undeposited sub-section of Accounting. There are a couple ways of getting payments to be shown in the Undeposited section, available for deposit.
Probably the most common and recommended way for getting payments into your Undeposited section, especially if you want this to be your default form of deposit generation and tracking, is to enable the Undeposited Funds account as the default deposit account. This is in Account > Settings > Accounting. You’ll see the option there to enable this. Once you’ve enabled that option, then, any payments being made will be defaulted to the Undeposited Funds deposit account.
The other way, which actually ties into the same methodology, is to just manually select the Undeposited Funds account when saving a payment, instead of having it default to this every time.
By clicking “change” here, you can change the deposit account for just this payment. So, if you didn't select to have this default to the Undeposited Funds account, you can always make the change here. If you don't choose the Undeposited Funds account, and instead choose a standard Bank Account, that payment will be considered as having been deposited outside of RentPost and won't fall under the Undeposited section.
After you've been able to add your payments to the Undeposited section, you'll want to go to this page and choose the payments you want to deposit. This will automatically sum up the amount of the payments in the right column.
From there you'll just choose to "Deposit" and a deposit slip will be generated for the items selected. It will be added just below the "Deposit" button in the deposit tray. Once added, click on that deposit and it will open it up, ready for printing.
Lastly, you can always reference deposits associated with a given bank account on the Banking tab, for that respective bank account. Just select the one in question and listed below will be the recent deposit slips that have been generated.
As always, if you have any questions about using the Undeposited Funds account or generating deposit slips, please let us know. Happy depositing!
