How do I add couple to a property

Hey Carrie, you have a couple options here.  You can add them as separate tenants, setting one of them as free, split the rent between the two, or you could add them as a shared name tenant.  We have clients that do it all of these different ways.  Many times, managers want to keep them separate so they can have the contact info and unique logins for each tenant.  But sometimes, managers want to just keep it as one tenant record.

Personally, I think it's best to setup 2 tenants, setting one as responsible for the full amount of the lease and the other as "free" rent, input as "0.00".  This way, each tenant gets their own login and you have the contact information for each of your tenants as two separate records.

Hope this helps.  Please let us know if you need any further clarifications.

But will either tenant be able to pay the rent if one of them is classified as the full rent and the other is classified as "free"?

Kelcy, not exactly.  Tenant accounts can only pay what is due to them.  That said, we're working to have this flexibility available so that either tenant can pay down on the balance for the lease whatever they wish.  Until that time, we do recommend setting it up in one of the aforementioned ways.  Hope that helps.
